Where do I get a flexplate for a 401 going into a late model ( 1987 ) Jeep full size automatic?

That would be a 401-727 flexplate. We have those new if you need one otherwise check ebay. Beware of the cheap imports and people have had nothing but trouble with them.

    Is the flex-plate different for a 401-400 compared to a 401-727?

727 and 400 are unique and have different bolt patterns (727 -4bolt 400- 3bolt). The 401-727's are a bolt on no trick balancing required.
