AMC 390 AMC 401 Compatabile in 1968 AMX 4 Speed

Almost to the point of purchasing a 1968 AMC that had the 390 and Borg Warner four speed - but sometime during it's life had an unknown AMC 360 swapped in. Will my 74-78 AMC block bolt to the original four speed without to many problems? I'm having the AMC 401 balanced with the flywheel. I'm sure the two will bolt together but is there something differnet with the crankshafts?
No CJ's left. 1968 AMC = long term.

The cranks are different (pre/post 1972), but it doesn't matter with a 4 speed, only the automatic. Just get the right pilot bushing with an OD that matches the crank and an ID that matches the tranny.

    Thanks.
The 360 runs pretty strong right now and my chances of finding a good AMC 390 (this being a "x" code car) are pretty slim. Won't feel so bad changing a numbers matching car as long as the AMC 401 will work without to muck trouble.
