    J10 or J20 Rear Axle

I noticed reference on another forum that an AMC 20 rear end in a J10 or J20 might have larger axle tubes than a passenger car rear. The tubes in the passenger car stuff is 2 1/2". Anyone know if that is true??

Yes they do but they also have a 6 lug pattern and are pretty wide. What are you thinking about D?

I want to build an extremely strong AMC 20 that is also lightweight. The smaller tubes flex more. Thin wall large diameter tubes are stronger than thick wall small tubes. I only need the center section; I will put tubes, ends and axles in it.

I do not think anything changes but the outer bearings on them.

go to the local yards and find an 80's wagoneer or j truck. chances are pretty good that a yard close to you will have one and it will probably be pretty cheap
