    '93 ZJ Cuts Out

    Ok, here we go.

The wife was driving the Jeep the other day and it started to quit, she pumped the gas and it ran, then quit. I drove 20min to her location and it would not start. Once cooled down, it ran and I drove it for about 1 mile and it quit, started right up and drove it for another 10 miles. I then replaced the crank position sensor and the throttle position sensor. The Jeep ran fine for a week and today it did the same thing.

I was driving and it quit, kept pumping the gas and it caught then died. Pulled over cranked but no start. Released the gas cap and it started, drove it a mile and it quit. Sat for 10 min and it ran so I drove it like a raped ape and sitting at a light it stumbled again but I kept it running until I got home.

I did replace the coil last year but w/these parts from China.....

Now, I did depress the shreader valve while the fuel pump/key was on and it hardly squirted out.

As mentioned before, when I drove it home, I was ON IT so if it's the fuel pump, then U got me. Felt electrical cause when it died it just died but the one time I pedaled it some. Not sure on this one but I'm thinking it's the fuel pump. To my knowledge once they go they go but I'm old school.

    Any help would be wonderful.

    Thanks,
    Jim

Any check engine lights? Have it scanned, see if there is a stored code even if the light isn't lit.

I could be a bad spot in the TPS, seeing that it seems to "catch" when you pump the gas, which doesn't do any fuel enrichment on an EFI vehicle. Running it hard, you're moving to a seldom used position.

The engine lite came on and said "Maintenance Required"

I replaced the CPS & TPS last week.

    OBDI system

When it was dead I didn't touch the gas and it fired up. NOW, thinking back, it was getting hard to start so I told the wife/kids push the throttle down a 1/4 way & it started faster. With the new TPS & CPS I didn't have to do that all the time.

I'm ready to pull out my Colt 45 1911 & show it who's boss :)

Gut it first and Paint a big red R on it - it'll sound like a Ricer, and the 'R' will get you 100 HP (not)
