    Removing outers

    No hammer needed to get this XJ apart, just the bolt.



    Put a bolt in there between the end of the yoke and the side of the inner C and turn the steering wheel. Pops them right out of the knuckle.

    You may have to move it to the other side to walk the bearing out, but it's real easy to do.

    I've always used a "sacrificial" bolt. Take out the original 3, put in the slightly longer replacement, and whack it with a BFH. It's always worked for me. Your way looks like it might be easier.

    I herd of this before, I always forget to try it when I'm pulling one on a strait axle.
