A/C and PS used aluminum brackets, I've never seen an alternator bracket out of aluminum (on an AMC anyway).

Never seen one of those. Must have been something they used for a very limited time.

Nope. My 77 CJ (no A/C) had a steel bracket. I got it with 8000 miles, so I know it was original.

I've never seen one of those before. Weird.

1973 Ambo 401 Auto P/S P/B A/C Air Pump was one model year that had an Alternator Bracket like that and it even also had an additional "D" shaped hole and boss for mounting an Idler Pulley that went against the backside of one of the V Belts. Belt routing diagram can be seen in the free online 1973 TSM. Stock top Alt Bracket to Head Spacer Bolt was made from a piece of Hex Stock with a threaded portion at the head end and a tapped hole at the Alt Brkt end.

Yes you could get it with or without the extra idler pulley area. We have one sitting here with the idler pulley area cut out.
