    Axle width

Can anyone tell me the front axle width (wms to wms) on a '98 TJ ? And how they compare to a standard "full size" axle? I plan on adding several extra ponies under the hood and I know the d30 & d35 are not up to the task so a d44 swap is in order. Do I have any bolt-in swaps available from other Jeep models? If not I am prepared to cut all the bracketry off the existing axles for the d44 swap. Thanks for any help!!

TJ axles are 60" WMS-WMS. They aren't able to stand up to a tire bigger than a 35 on a consistent basis. Been there, done that.
Cutting off brackets is about the easiest thing you can do. The only bolt-in application is from the purchase of a whole new axle.

Skip the D44 and go straight to the D60. D44s have the same ujoint of a D30.

Thank you...you response is appreciated. Looks like I'll scrounge up some donor axles and get to work cutting things apart.
