    distributor problem

    went to test fit distributor in engine after rebuild bottom of distributor housing is hitting the cam gear
    stock distibutor w/ mallory unlite conversion
    plated timing cover from bulltear
    new cam and distributor gears

    My 2 thoughts are do you have the cover alignment dowels in the block, and do you have a gasket under the dizzy base?

    Try an "O" ring for a gasket. Don't over tighten.
