running exhaust out the rear Jeep 360

I have fenderwell headers w/glasspacks and tips on my CJ7. It has been this way for years but I built my 360 up a lot more recently and it is begining to get a little loud. anyone think I can run the exhaust out the back with the fenderwell headers? How? If not how much power loss would I get if I put on manifolds and then ran the exhaust out the back

Very little power loss and you may rarely notice it...talking maybe 5-10hp. I remember my 20's when I loved fenderwell headers until I got into the rocks and logs.

I still like loud, but having my ears ring the rest of the day after a few hours of driving the Jeep got old (and so did I).

I went from fenderwell headers and "Purple Hornies" mufflers to a full 3" exhaust out the back with a catalyst when they enacted emissions laws here in Denver.

I can say that I only see a very slight drop in power over 5000 RPM, and actually see a torque gain just off idle. With a Magnaflow welded muffler I still get a nice growly exhaust note, but I can also listen to my radio and CB if I want to.
