Where to get a 401 flywheel

Where is the best place to get a new 401 flywheel? I have looked at the Bulltear Products site and it looks like they do not carry them.

    Thanks.

There are various vendors on the net... You just have to hunt for them. OR.... you could check out the FSJ sites and the baby Jeep sites and poke around....

eBay has some listed for $135-154 for a standard flywheel, up to $412 for a McLeod billet unit. With anything non-OEM, I'd have it balanced before installation.

Thanks. I think Omix-Ada makes all the stock replacements. Several racing applications are available, but this is a daily driver.

MC is/was an Omix-Ada distributor. You might PM him (jeepsr4ever) to see if he can get one for you.

Getting it balanced means getting the entire rotating assembly balanced not just the flywheel

Not necessarily Joe, he could have it match balanced to a stock flywheel if he has one.

The budget flywheels can be garbage. We had one spin a ring gear even though it was welded and the weight was off. If you get one of the $150 and less flywheels do yourself a favor and get it balanced.

I purchased a 360 flywheel back in the day and the machine shop had to drill a lot of material out of it... I noticed that on the back side there was a decent sized pocket/void... lol
