I have a book but all it tells me is the firing order for a point type ignition system.
Questions:
Firing order for the V8 is:
Clockwise
1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2 - Correct?
#1 being at the vacuum advance basically.
Engine Bank firing location:
Left bank (passenger side) 2, 4, 6, 8 - Correct?
Right Bank 1, 3, 5, 7 - Correct?
Also, what should the timing be for this motor? 5*BTDC, and, should I have the crank shaft pully set about 5* then drop the dizzy in and the rotor to point to number 1.... or better yet I can make any number 1 right, as long as I get the initial 5* or what ever it should be.
**As I have it now - Found TDC w/the exhaust valve that just barley moved, looked where the POwner had the rotor (@ number 4 location), marked the dizzy housing on the block, pulled the dizzy, primed the motor, reset dizzy to same spot and mover the rotor to the number 1 position. Should I remove it and do like I asked in the statement above or leave it and find the advance to get it to fire.
Is advanced towards the passenger side (clockwise) or drivers side (counter clock wise)
I do believe I am right but I just want to double check.
Thanks,
Jim
