    dist. into new housing

I don't know if this happened to anybody else but as I dropped my msd dist into the housing it didn't seat. It was close to but not quite, lucky I picked up on it. If I would have tighten it up it would have put alot of pressure on the oil pump shaft. Had to grind the chafer on the upper part of the dist shaft, not the bottom, to get it to sit right. So make sure you have a little play on that rotor or your oil pump will be the next to go. Don't know if I'm right but I fiqured I would put it out there for guys like me.

That problem has been talked about before. Usually with the inexpensive HEI replacement distributors. It is a good thing you caught it, as it binds the oil pump and strains the gears, usually causing the gears to fail.
