    AMC Timing Cover

I have a question I could not find an answer for in my searching. I have a timing cover from a Jeep GW that had a running 360 in it. When I built my race engine I tried to use the is cover and I could not get the distributor in. I went back to the old cover that was in my CJ-7 and it worked just fine. The old cover pump cavity is worn out and I now need to use the fresh cover but it still, with some clearancing, will only work if I pull the passenger side locating pin and rotate the cover until the bolts stop it. I would not run it this way, I was just testing it. I notice this cover does not have any of the casting marks on the inside of the cover or outside. The motor it came off of was rebuilt and had no dizzy gear wear but will not work on any of my four other blocks. Any ideas? I plan to get a new one from BT at this point.

What you have there is the chinese pop off of the tiawanese cover. Sold by silver seal and omix ada the covers are not what we would consider usable. Go to the estore in this website and pickout what parts you need. You are guaranteed proper fitment on installation.

I figured that was the answer. I hope to have the money to get this and some other parts this week. Thanks.

I bought one from this site....seems to fit well. I will see how it goes once engine is running. I'd also recommend their matching cam/dizzy gears if yours are shot or missing.
