    Dana 300 Question.

Next to the reverse light switch (think that's it) is there supposed to be a plug here to block this off ?

Can't remember and I have tried looking this up on 4wd.com on their parts page.

    Thanks,
    Jim

I'm pretty sure the switch is a 4WD indicator light. The other is a plug, looks like the plastic cap is gone. It just screws in. Screw it out, clean well, fill the top (the end toward your finger) with 1/8" or so of JB Weld. You don't want to overfill, as it may interfere with the shift rod.

That's what I thought-Is there a ball that drops in there for the shift rail?

Guess I can go find a screw in plug somewhere.

    Thanks again,
    Jim

The ball and spring are under the shift rail, you'd have to pull the shift rail out to get at them. It's just a machined hole so you can get them in. You don't want anything to thread deep enough to interfere or bind the shift rail.

Oh ok thanks-Does that hole/plug keep fluid from spilling out?

That's it, just blocking a machining access hole.
