    J20 engine swap fro 360 to 401

    I have a 360.th400 Q/T...I plan on building a replacement 401 ,...keeping the TH400/QT

What do I need to do about the flex plate?

    Thanks!

AMC V-8s are externally balanced. The harmonic balancer and flywheel are made specifically for each displacement, so unless you have the 360 flex plate re-balanced, you'll get a vibration. On TH400 models, there's a very thin shim/spacer in the back of the crank to center the GM torque converter, you'll need that too. I think I have a couple of 401/TH400 flex plates in my shed. I won't be home to check for a couple of weeks. I'd let you have one for the cost of shipping if I do. If you have one for a TF727 for the 401, I'd trade you even-up.
