    cutting 3/8" 6061 aluminum plate

    Hey ya'all,
Been cutting a lot of metal but just getting into aluminum. I've cut 1/8" and 3/16" without issue, but 3/8a' inch and 1/2" are being problamatic. I have a Hypertherm 65 rated to cut 1/2" alum. Start lab wet table. Mach3. I get really bad cuts no matter what settings I've tried. Here is a pic of the crap I'm getting. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Name: bad alum cuts.jpg

Looks like your either cutting too fast or your torch is cutting too high. Aluminum finished like that are what you get with plasma. BUT the angular aspect of it show a weak beam.
