lost my server - update coming
Hello
The silver one is my fav, too. it caught my eye sitting on the "Lechlitner AMC' lot (Goshen, IN) the first day that they set it out (fall 1980). It was only about the second one I had seen, I about broke my neck looking at it. I made a U-turn and about JUMPED off my motorcycle to get at it. The salesman who ORIGINALLY sold it came out to deal. They wanted $1,999.00 for it!!! I gave them $1,500.00 for it, forget the 90 day warranty (The other one that I had seen was a '71 "Pumpkin" 360 X, pic is a 401...
in about 1976, it was my girlfriend's brother's, he wanted $1,500 for it, but I had a 68 Camaro 396 and a 67 Camaro convertable, ma said no!) The next 60,000 miles were fairly trouble free. Rebuilt the 360 at 120k when the cam bearings let the oil pressure stay low. The 360 went into the Jersey BBO in place of the 520HP '69 390 (w/70 ported heads). The 390 will be getting the 72+ 401 crank, then attaching on to a full-race 727 and into the Detroit drag AMX, along with the tunnel ram, about 500HP of NOS, and tons of other goodies.
That Jersey car looked real good from ten feet, but had some inner door panel and under package tray (etc) cancer from the coastal salt air.
Here's a link to my BBO w/Black stripeshttp://home.comcast.net/~dhoelcher/amc/my/fr_bbo.htm page.
I've also been working on an AMC parts and interchange page:

ANYWAY, I didn't take many pics at all in those days. Some day she will come back out with new silver paint, a hot 401 with an STR-11 (somebody find me one!), Doug Nash 5-speed, 4-wheel disc, as close to a championship winning TransAm car I can get it. I sold the black LEATHER interior for $500, thinking on using a cage and two racing buckets. May have been a boo boo!!!
Here she is today...
Oh yeah, I also have a '71 Jav SST that will be losing a foot of wheelbase some day. Too many projects, not enough of the necessary resources. (I have a totally complete, dirty, Pierre Cardin interior for it or for trade on, what-have-you?)
(some plans may change, now that I saw that INDY aluminum crate engine!)
I all but forgot, I had a '70 Javelin SST with the high compression 360!!
yak....yak...yak.....great board, here!!!
