crank scraper - fact or fiction?

I have seen a few places (mostly ebay) selling crank scrapers for amc v8s. They claim that this helps keep the oil in the pan instead of an oil cloud swirling around the crank. I know that race cars use them, but is this a legit mod for a Jeep? Not many jeepers turn high rpm (that we leave for the amc/amx dragracers). It seems like this would only provide a gain for really high RPM where the crank is spinning fast enough to create a cloud of oil. However, due to the oiling issues of amc's I thought that possibly anything could help...

IT is more fiction than anything, racers use a extremely close shave on the crank with the scrapers....But these scrapers claim they fit a 360 and 401 crank...yes they do but the space between the crank flanges and the scrapers vary from 360 to 401. It may keep the crank a little lighter but if you are mostly under 5000rpm you dont need/want one.
