    Gladiator

    Sup all! My name is Brad and I am a newbie to your BB. I own a 79' J-10 Honcho and just last week I bought a very down trodden J-2000 FOR $100.00 DOLLARS YESSSSSSssssss....... =D> The Honcho is slated for an almost frame up restore. I have actually started on it. Right now we are waiting for Edelbrock's new 401 heads. Right now, as I will many many times in the future, I need to pick some brains if I may. Can anyone tell me what kind of TC I have in my Gladiator? Here is a picture of the tag that is on it;

    Here are more pictures of the truck as well;

    I have no pink slip yet, I know it's not stolen because I called PD before I bought it, I am not 100% sure about anything, yet. Here is what "I think" I know;
    1-"I think" it is a 1969, here is the VIN http://www.naughtyjollyroger.com/mis...diator/vin.jpg
    2- It's a 350 Buick Dauntless w/ a TH400
    3- "I think" the front axle is a Dana 44 closed knuckle
    4- "I think" I am clueless as to what the rear is, there is a tag on it that says "Use limited slip oil only". Here is a pic of the only numbers I can find on the rear end;

    and a rear view of it;

    Any ideas gentlemen? Additionally, I am looking for a working instrument cluster, anyone have one laying around they want to sell or can anyone lead me to a junkyard that has these trucks? TIA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    First off Welcome to Bulltear. It looks like you got a pretty good deal for $100. I had one that look very simliar to that at 1 point. IT was a 64 body on a 74 chassis and drivetrain. The rear axle looks like a Dana 60.

    I am sure someone here will be able to help you with the rest of your questions

    your T-case is a dana 20....thats a nice setup 250hp buick 350. It is a dana 44 rear you would need a j4000 with a GVWof 6000 or more to have a 5 bolt dana 60.. great deal you got there brad!

    Can anyone hands down tell me if the following is correct?
    (I just measured the WB and it's about 120")

    This truck is a 1969 Jeep J-2500 w/ a 350 Buick, TH400, Dana 44's front and rear w/ closed knuckle fronts, and a powerlock rear end.

    They never used a Dana 27 in the J Series trucks. Rear axle may be a Dana 53 which has some hard to get parts. Looks like a 44 to me though.

    J4 you may be right i know they did use them in Wagoneers. Wagoneers used the Dana 27-A from the start of production until 1970. From 1962 to 1965 the Dana 27 was used in an independent front suspension using torsion bars, but in J trucks i am not sure. 69 was the transitional year for the 53.....hmmm
