and loves it. it has a 258 I-6 with an automatic( his wife can't
drive a stick). so far he has 200,000 miles on it since new. he is
the original owner and it is his daily driver to work.never has let him down.

Great 'wheelers. If I had to do it again, I'd start with a CJ8 instead of a CJ7. The longer wheelbase makes them a better 4-wheeler and gives them a better ride than the CJ7. Bob the tail to get rid of the overhang, and approach and departure angle is the same as a CJ7.

There were only about 28,000 made from 1981-1986, none were factory V-8, mostly I-6 with a few 4 cyls. Since they had the same rust problems as the CJs, it's VERY difficult to find one in good shape.

Can be in calssic shape. If you get a beater, they're about like everything else. Just watch what your paying for when you find it. Some people think ANY Scrambler is worth Gold, but truth is, you get what you pay for, and rust ain't worth paying for!!

I wish I had mine back

Don't mean to tell you what to do, but I really don't think short wheel base/high center of gravity Jeeps (even CJ-8's) are the best vehicles to put a new driver in. I just don't want to see anybody get hurt.

Built a YJ for the daughter child, and other than "Dad, the radio doesn't work" she likes it and drives the hell out of the 'built 258' with 203 & SYE I put in there
