    chevy valve in a 401

I am shure this questions has been asked before, I searched the board and could not find what I needed or just plain got lazy. Could some one tel; me what is involved in putting chevy valves in a set of 401 heads? I know the valve guides need to be sleeved but what else may be involved i.e. retainers , springs , keepers etc. thanks for any and all information.

I put stainless "Chevy valves" in my 401 heads (090 heads). Mosy of these heads need valve guides anyway cause they're old and worn. Since you are doing guides, you just need to install 11/32" valve guides in. The more difficult thing is the size of the exhaust valves. I found some 1.650" chevy exhaust valves. Usually the biggest you find is 1.625". SIS makes the 1.650" but they're not commonly found listed. Since my heads needed seats anyway, it worked out. I ended up with about $800 in my heads and I did much of the port work myself.
