    Old Nascar Stuff

Here is a link to some pics of an old Penske Nascar block, heads and crank if anyone is interested in how they were doing things in 1971.

Nice... those oiling mods, did they run a belt driven oil pump, or something that had a little more volume?
Does anybody make 4 bolt caps for AMC's?
What's up with those freeze plugs on the side of the block? Are those the quick fix expanding plugs or is that something else.

Pro-Gram Engineering makes a splayed 4 bolt main cap for AMCs. I'm pretty sure it's a 401 mod only, as the webs are thinner on 304/360 blocks and there isn't enough "meat" for the extra bolts. You also need to have a block line bored when the main caps are replaced.

If you need a tool and don't buy it...
    you'll eventually pay for it...
    and not have it.

Not sure yet, I have been in contact with the owner of Traco but he was at a customers shop when I called....said he had another in his shop he was freshening up right now with the number 444 heads and to call back but life took over and aint got back with him.
If there is any interest I will post what I find out.
Heads are a weird piece....dogleg casting numbers...but square exhaust ports and an xtra set of head bolt holes along the bottom row.
Block is drilled and tapped for them.
Also the valve centerline is supposed to be .045 farter apart than "normal" heads, but I have not measured that yet.
