    dowel pins for timing cover

    i am putting a 360 together now bought a few parts from you thanks for the help. i was wondering on the timing cover do i need the 2 dowel pins to put the cover on or can i just use the bolts to line it up.

    You MUST use the roll pins. They keep the cover positively aligned so the distributor drive gears mesh properly. Using the bolts alone may cause enough mis-alignment to make it eat the distributor gear.

    You should be able to find the correct diameter roll pins at any full service hardware store if yours are missing.
