I just got a 70 javelin sst 390 from my uncle. My grandpa bought the car new in 1970 and put about 16000 miles on it before the he got bit by the racing bug. The trans and factory rear end were modified by Art Carr, and the engine was built by a speed shop in california. I was wondering if anyone here could tell me how to I.D. the cyl heads, from casting numbers and such?
Welcome! As MC said, look for a number between two valve springs. Post them here and we will disect them for ya. Did you make it to the AMO show this past weekend?
Jack
Yeah I made it to the show, I got there late on sat though. I never even unloaded the car off the trailer when I got there. here is a link to some before pics of my car
Thanks, are these heads good for performance? I'm thinking about doing a little port work while they are off. What would be a better head but still keep the engine period correct?
Hey man, if you ever want to meet up, I could swing by and show you were the #'s are on your head. I am about to move to the area and am actually living at working at the Hilton that was the host hotel in Norcross. Drop me a line if you want!
